How Karaoke Singing Can Make You a Better Public Speaker!

According to most studies, people’s number one fear is public speaking. Number two is death. Death is number two…Does that sound right? This means to the average person, if you go to a funeral, you’re better off in the casket than doing the eulogy. (Jerry Seinfeld)
It’s no secret that becoming an effective public speaker is great for our career and personal life. Among the many benefits are:
* Increased self confidence
* Increased influence
* Opportunities to make more desired business and personal connections
* Impressing colleagues, prospects, clients and others
* Greater ability to inspire people to take action
There are good reasons why public speaking is a prized skill among influential people such as politicians and corporate leaders. However, as Jerry Seinfeld notes, many people are plain terrified to speak in public.
Firstly, If you are serious about becoming a skilled public speaker, you need to join a good speaking organization, such as Toastmasters International. In addition, singing lessons have long been recommended to make you a more effective public speaker. Singing lessons are helpful, but karaoke singing can help you even more. Singing lessons and karaoke are a powerful combination to increase your public speaking skill. If you prefer to do only of these, I recommend you do karaoke. This is why:
KARAOKE CAN HELP YOU CONQUER STAGE FRIGHT
Karaoke need not involve much preparation. You don’t have to create original material. The lyrics are right on the screen. You just sing…Nor do you have to worry about your singing prowess. Karaoke was almost certainly invented for the masses, who have less than stellar singing voices. For the most part, karaoke is just about having fun.
Bring a few friends along for support. Karaoke is a great way to break the ice for aspiring public speakers who are scared to perform in front of groups. Or for people who want to get back to public speaking after a hiatus.
KARAOKE CAN INCREASE YOUR VOCAL VARIETY
You may surprise yourself with the variety of tones you can hit, when singing.. You will like some tones and want to practice and keep them. Others not so much. Vocal variety is an important part of your took box, as a speaker. Increasing your vocal variety builds your tool box.
KARAOKE CAN MAKE YOU A MORE ENTERTAINING SPEAKER
Public speaking is not only about delivering a message. Any recording device can do that. The first thing a speaker needs to do is to maintain their audience’s attention.
Unless you keep the audience’s attention, you won’t get the chance to motivate them to take the desired action. Whether that desired action is buying products or services, supporting a cause, investing in something etc.
Sought after speakers are entertaining speakers. Performing karaoke can provide you with valuable experience and learning about entertaining audiences. You can supplement your learning by taking notes from other singers.
KARAOKE MAKES YOUR SPEAKING MORE EMOTIONALLY COMPELLING
We humans are emotional beings. Not logical beings. Logic may make us think. Emotions make us act. Emotions are front and centre in music. Your job is to bring the lyrics to life with your personality and emotional content.
This is a good habit to transfer to public speaking. To deliver a powerful speech, we need to emotionalize our words and bring them to life. Your karaoke experience can make your speaking more emotionally compelling.
You can practise delivering maximum emotional content, to your audiences, by choosing songs involving strong emotions. A few of my favorites are; Tom Jones’ “Delilah”, Bon Jovi’s “You Give Love A Bad Name”, and Robert Palmer’s “Bad Case of Loving You”.
If you are a public speaker (regular or occasional), or aspire to be one, there are solid reasons to check out your local karaoke schedules.
Better Than Affirmations. A More Powerful Way to Manifest Your Vision!

A few years ago, I watched part of a very forgettable comedy movie. It was about a young woman going through tough times. Every time she encountered a problem, she’d recite an affirmation. For instance, when a date stood her up, she’d say something like, “I am very attractive. Anyone would be proud to date me…” The dubious comedy was derived from the woman’s obvious disbelief in her words. This is a major problem with affirmations. If we affirm something we doubt, we generate negative energy. This pushes our vision away from us. Which is the opposite of what we want. What can you say, instead of affirmations, to get closer to your vision? Keep in mind that your vision (whatever it is) is always something you have experienced in the past and are experiencing right now. You simply want more of it. Whether it is more love, career success, freedom, fame, money or anything else. I suggest a gratitude statement, in which you express gratitude, for your experiences of your vision in the past, present and what is coming to you. This statement is true, because you ARE grateful for your past and present experiences of your vision. You need not pretend to believe anything you doubt! For instance, if our vision is of more financial wealth, you could create a gratitude statement such as: I am grateful for the wealth I have enjoyed in the past, which enabled me to experience….(Example: good food, shelter, clothing etc.) I am grateful for the wealth I enjoy now, which enables me to experience…(Example: holidays, paying your rent or mortgage etc.) I am grateful for the even greater wealth that is coming to me, which enables me to plan for…(Example: my new home, more vacation time, greater freedom, a legacy for my family etc.) Use whatever words inspire you the most. The key is to link the greater good you wish to receive with good you have received in the past and good you are receiving right now, in a chain of gratitude. This is powerful! In the video below, a young boy express gratitude upon receiving a chopping board for a birthday present. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=576wl8j2jFM Please comment on and share this post if you find value in it. A Challenge to Express More Gratitude in 2015!
Posted in inspiration, Law of Attraction, self help, transformation, Uncategorized, tagged gratitude, gratitude challenge, law of attraction, LOA on December 30, 2014| 2 Comments »
If you could make just one change in 2015, what would it be?
To lose weight?
To adopt a healthier diet?
To earn more money?
To love yourself more?
To invest more in your career?
To improve your personal relationships?
These are all great things. However, the most crucial change we can all make, to improve our lives, is to be more grateful. There are an unlimited number of things to be grateful for. Everything from being born in the first place. To our family, friends, the functioning of our bodies, living in a democracy and on and on…The more gratitude we express; the more we find to be grateful for.
Check out the video below. The song was written by musicians Nimo Patel and Daniel Nahmod. It was inspired by the 21 Day Gratitude Challenge, in which an amazing 11,000 people participated. Let us challenge ourselves to express more gratitude, than ever before, in 2015!

Concentrate On Only One Major Goal At A Time

Many self help gurus urge us to make lists of our goals in different areas. For instance; our fitness goals, career goals, social goals, family goals, relationship goals. The problem with focusing on several goals is that it dilutes our concentration. Weaker concentration produces delayed results, weaker results or no satisfactory results.
We experience quicker and more powerful results when we concentrate on only one major goal at a time. Such concentration builds power. As the old adage goes; he who chases two rabbits will catch none. Rather than make a list of goals; clarify the one goal which is most crucial, right now, to manifesting the change you seek. This is the goal you need to concentrate on.
Check out the article below for some great tips on how to focus more powerfully on your vision.

The musical collaboration, between pop queen Lady Gaga and crooner Tony Bennett, is surprising for a few reasons. They are from different genres, generations and appeal to quite different audiences. They are an unlikely and unconventional pair, but they make beautiful music together.
Amazing things can happen when we throw away preconceived ideas, stereotypes and embrace the unlimited possibilities before us. Let us ask ourselves:
What preconceived ideas or stereotypes may be holding us back?
Who could we collaborate with, for mutual benefit, that might be viewed as a strange choice?
Can we use our differences from others as assets?
Click the link below to listen to some of their beautiful music.
What Is Your Definition of Love?

All you need is love. (Beatles)
Virtually everyone agrees that love makes life both possible and worthwhile. The Law of Attraction holds that love attracts more love, which is hard to debate. But what is love?
Philosophers have debated the meaning of love for centuries. To capture the spirit of love, we need to start with the understanding that love is a verb. Not a noun. It is not a thing. Nor is it only an emotion.
The following is my simple definition of love. I believe it captures the beauty and life giving essence of love in just a few words. It covers the physical, sensual, spiritual, and intellectual dimensions of love.
It implies a deep appreciation of those we love, protecting them from harm, adding value to their lives, and nurturing them. It does not mean holding ourselves responsible for their welfare; which is impossible.
Love is treating others in ways which increase their life energy.
If we treat others in ways which increase their life energy, we love them. If we love ourselves, which is necessary before we can love anyone else, we consistently treat ourselves this way.
What is your definition of love?

What Is The Best Legacy For Our Children? Sting Doesn’t Think It’s Money
Posted in Uncategorized, tagged children, fortunes, inheritance, law of attraction, LOA, mastery, music, Sting on June 26, 2014| 1 Comment »
Police front man Sting is one of the biggest names in rock. Sting is revered as a passionate songwriter, whose music explores both the sunny and darker sides of life. During his long and very successful career, Sting gave us hits such as Don’t Stand So Close, Roxanne, Message In A Bottle and many others.
Today, Sting’s net worth is estimated at $300 million. He recently announced that he was not leaving any of his fortune to his six children, from two marriages. Sting grew up poor near the Wallsend shipyard in England, which may help explain his attitude.
The very wealthy have mixed views on leaving fortunes to their children. Some believe in leaving their children bulging trust funds. Others believe leaving children fortunes can be “albatrosses around their necks” in Sting’s words.
However, there is one inheritance that is certain to benefit our children. Mastery of the Law of Attraction. Such mastery can only do our children good. It will serve them well, no matter what circumstances they face in life. Nor can it be stolen, scammed, taxed away, otherwise taken from them or lost in bad investments.
Sting performs his classic hit, “Message In A Bottle” in the video below.

Being Stuck In An Airport Got Him A Music Video With More Than 2 Million Views
Posted in Uncategorized, tagged airport, all by myself, choices, law of attraction, LOA, music video, Richard Dunn, video., Vimeo on June 13, 2014| 1 Comment »
Richard Dunn, of Georgia, was stuck in a Las Vegas airport. He’d been offered vouchers to be bumped off two Delta Airlines flights. Which gave him six hours all by himself; from midnight to 6 a.m. the next morning. Not an uncommon occurrence these days. Rather than complain about it, as many people would, Dunn got inspired. He googled songs about being all by myself.
He spent several hours recording himself lip syncing Celine Dion’s version of “All By Myself”. Next step; Dunn, who works as a lighting designer, borrowed some tape from an airline employee, and made a makeshift tripod by taping his iPhone to a ruler. He used this tripod to film various shots, used in the video, around the airport. To date, Dunn’s low tech video has had more than 2 million views on Vimeo.
Our time on this planet is finite. We always have choices about how to use it. In this instance, Dunn made two key choices about his airline wait. His first choice was to obtain the six hours of time in the airport, by trading it for flight vouchers. Dunn’s second choice was to use his time at the airport in this unorthodox and creative way. Good for him!
Most people make conventional and predictable choices. This does not mean we have to follow suit. We can make our own choices, as Richard Dunn did.
Watch Dunn’s video on the link below.
